This Alexander McQueen red dress is really a dream dress. Romantic but edgy. Maybe with a sense of the rebel about it. The fabrics, a checked and a floral clash in the most amazing way. While it’s not a dress for wearing every day, its’ a head turner for sure. Although from season SS18, I would suggest such is the design aesthetic, it won’t date. A true statement dress and perfect for making an entrance. Anyone who wears it will be a vision in red.

Attention to Detail

The designer has obviously played plenty of attention to detail. Shaped to be flattering, it has a form fitting bodice and full skirt. The shape is generally very forgiving and would suit different figures.

This dress also shows off your shoulders to good effect. Strictly speaking it has two sets of shoulder straps. The red shoulder straps are fully adjustable and designed to hold the dress in place. Meanwhile one fabric shoulder strap falls nicely off the shoulder.

There’s also a clever internal belt to help cinch in your waist. It’s beautifully lined in silk and I think if you wanted to make the skirt fuller still you could add an additional underskirt, although for preference, I like it the way it is.

An Alexander McQueen Statement Red Dress

I think it’s versatile too. It works as a day or evening dress for a special event or simply if you wanted to make an entrance. The length excluding straps is 35.5”. I would accessorise in red, although the designer chose black on the runway. The sizing is sensible too.

You can’t talk about this Alexander McQueen red dress without mentioning the fabrics which are incredibly vivid. The mixture of reds gives the dress a very bespoke look. Nothing makes a statement like a red dress. I would imagine this was made in quite small volumes, making this Alexander McQueen summer dress, all the more covetable. I only have one available.
