Designer dresses in Edinburgh are readily available. In addition to the stores/websites listed below, there are a number of dressmakers specialising in bridal wear, some of whom might make you the dress of your dreams. Just ask! The designers available range from household names – available from the likes of Harvey Nichols and Jane Davidson to smaller niche designers you might not have heard of. Let’s be honest. Part of the fun in finding a new designer dress is in the browsing or searching. I wish you happy hunting!

Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nichols – the grand dame of Edinburgh’s designer shops (also available online). In Edinburgh it has two floors devoted to women’s wear so there is plenty to browse in store or head to its website. Brands available in Edinburgh include Amanda Wakely, Bella Freud, Dolce and Gabbana and Isabel Marant étoile. It’s even more fun to shop in Harvey Nichols when there is a sale on – you’ll find a sale happening at the time of writing! I like this Isabel Marant silk dress which is in the sale. If you like it – be quick, there are not many left!

Jane Davidson

Jane Davidson on Thistle Street (also online) is something of an Edinburgh pioneer. Based in a Georgian townhouse, there is plenty to browse and you can make an appointment. Soon to stock the Vampires Wife, brands available include Dries Van Noten, Roland Mouret, Isabel Marant and Charlotte Sparre. Not all stock may be available online so it’s worth heading to the store in person. I particularly liked this Roland Mouret dress

Corniche stocks designers you will have heard of, and some you might not. Designers include Vivienne Westwood, High and David’s Road. Be sure to check current store opening times before heading over to its boutique on Jeffery Street. There’s also plenty to enjoy on its website. When browsing I found this Vivienne Westwood tartan dress and this Vivienne Westwood pop art dress.

Cruise is a stalwart of the Edinburgh fashion scene and also has a presence online. Phone ahead to check the Edinburgh store stocks your favourite designers. Currently there is a sale on. I found this Saint Laurent evening dress in the sale – its full length reduced from nearly £2000 to just £399!

Carolyn Baxter

Carolyn Baxter has both a boutique and a studio making wedding and event dresses. Her studio is based on London Street. Browse Carolyn Baxter collection online. As well as designing and making full length dresses there are plenty of cocktail/evening dresses to choose from. Ask about fabric/colour options.

Epitome is a more recent addition to the Edinburgh designer dress scene, focused on contemporary woman’s wear. Based on Dundas Street, currently it has a sale on. Brands stocked include Norse Projects, Story F.M.G. and Needles. I likes this linen dress by Kapital and this linen dress by Needles. I believe sale stock is only available online.

Purse friendly clothing from Biscuit, which has boutiques on Thistle Street and Bruntsfield Place. It also has a website. Currently it has a sale on. Catching my eye are these dresses from Gelato Carbon dress and this Delize Ecru dress. There is plenty more to browse on the site. Brands stocked include Ba&sh, Second Female and Ichi.

A Good Frock

Oh and don’t forget about me! No store (yet) but firmly based in Edinburgh, A Good Frock sells mostly Dolce and Gabbana dresses from previous collections. Worth a browse! My favourites include this tulle dress by Dolce and Gabbana and this strapless teal dress by the same designer.

As you can see there are lots of options if you are searching for designer dresses in Edinburgh.
