A Black Dolce and Gabbana dress – what’s not to really love? Sophisticated, easy to wear, flattering, they are on every Dolce & Gabbana fan’s wish list. And the designers do not disappoint as year after year, black dresses are a mainstay of their collection. For eveningwear, black is the colour of choice – associated with elegance and sophistication most women have special black dresses in their closets.

Sorry to be a party pooper – I’d probably say more women like black dresses than suit black dress. It can wash fairer skin tones out, but if it suits your colouring, Dolce and Gabbana dark dresses come in a range of silhouettes year on year. It’s hard to pick one. My personal favourite from the current collection is a black tulle midi dress, but no doubt you have your own.

Black Dolce and Gabbana Dresses in Various Styles

Black Dolce and Gabbana dresses come in various styles year on year. From the thigh skimming to midi to maxi. If you don’t have an extensive wardrobe, then dress length is a serious consideration. A short dress ending well above the knee can be a knockout look on some but limiting for others. Really, when are you going to wear a short dress? Personally, I prefer a midi length simply because I will get more wear out of it. Aside from length neckline is another important consideration. A modest neckline is more versatile. Also bear in mind a crew or curved or off the shoulder neckline can be more flattering than a V-neckline depending on your face shape. There’s a lot to think about! Go with your gut (instinct)!

What You’ll Find on A Good Frock

A Good Frock is fairly ‘itty bitty’ when it comes to scale. I like to think of it as small but perfectly formed when it comes to the selection of available dresses. There’s always black but be quick!

The rationale behind A Good Frock is to offer authentic dresses at less-than-full-retail-prices. Dresses range from vintage corset/bustier dresses to short silk mix dresses. You need to browse my collection of New, Preloved and Vintage Dolce & Gabbana dresses.

Perhaps I should run through some examples? The Dolce & Gabbana black lace midi dress is a stunner. You can dial it up or down depending on what you wear underneath it. To be transparent. It is sheer and is shown on A Good Frock with a slip (from John Lewis). I think it has the wow factor! But there are occasions when you might want to dial it up a notch by perhaps switching to wearing a body underneath.

Browse the vintage selection – it won’t take you long – to find the Dolce and Gabbana black bustier dress. Properly good vintage is hard to find. The trick is to find a dress in wearable condition. This black bustier / corset dress is authentic vintage dating from 1995. There are some signs of wear but it’s in great condition for its age. It has great provenance and although not in perfect condition is in great wearable condition for its age. The back of the dress has reinforced hook and eye closures throughout its length rather than a zip. Dramatic and beautiful, it’s priced to sell. It might sound expensive but just compare the price to whats available elsewhere from dealers. You see my point?

The short black silk blend Dolce and Gabbana dress – is beautifully ruched. Short, above the knee, but not too short. An exquisite LBD if ever there was one. A word of caution. I think it runs neat. Contact me for measurements – for this or any dress. The price is a bargain! You’ll wear it once, then again and again.
